Top Tips for Hosting a Memorable Corporate Golf Day

Golf is considered one of the most important tools in Corporate Entertaining.

Any organisation should view its Corporate Golf Day as a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with their guests.

A primary reason to invite anyone to a golf day should be to win, retain or expand your business relationship with them.

Here are 6 key tips to help you host a memorable Corporate Golf Day:

1. Start preparing early. Popular golf courses get booked up over a year in advance and companies often host their golf day on the same day each year. Start early to make sure you get the venue you want. it is never too early to start thinking about your next golf day.

2. Choosing a venue - Who are you inviting? It is unlikely that all your key guests will be competent golfers. It is important to strike a balance between an appealing and interesting venue that golfers will find hard to refuse, with a golf course that gives all players an equal chance of enjoying their day. If you choose a golf course that is too demanding, it could potentially spoil the day for some people and they might not want to attend next year, preferring to go to your competitors golf day instead!

3. When to host your event? Does it clash with school holidays, major industry events, other sporting or cultural events? When and where are your competitors hosting their golf day? How many daylight hours will there be in the day?

4. Format for the day. Do you play 18, 27 or 36 holes of golf? What time of year are you hosting the day will have a key impact on this. Will your guests be accustomed to playing more than 18 holes of golf in a day? If you host the event at a prestigious course, playing too much golf could have a negative impact as your guests get tired and enjoyment levels fall. Do you start early so that guests have a chance of making it home before midnight, or do you start later in the day and offer overnight accommodation to those travelling from further afield?

5. Professional golfer clinic For added kudos, secure the services of a Professional Golfer for the day. They can give helpful advice, group coaching clinics, accompany your guests out on the course, conduct a video analysis of players swings and much more.

We are pleased to announce that European Tour player Sion Bebb is available for Corporate Golf days through Red Dragon Events.

Jeremy Dale's Golf Trick Show is a fascinating show for golfers and non-golfers alike. Fantastic entertainment mixed with playing tips!

6. Goodie bag and prizes! If you want people to remember your golf day long after they have left the 19th hole, carefully consider what to include in the goodie bag. Think unusual, practical or even edible! Your target audience and budget will influence your decision.

Other important considerations include:

Budget for the event
Competition format
On course competitions
On course refreshments
After dinner speaker
Do you host the event in the UK or abroad

Don't forget that your guests are likely to be invited to a number of golf days throughout the year. make sure your golf day is the one they remember and look forward to receiving an invitation to more than your competitors!
